Le voici enfin, le petit dernier des gars de Bodom! Et si l'on retrouvera ici l'une de ces photos sur ce cinquième manifeste des finlandais (en l'occurrence, le terrible matraquage "Trashed, Lost And Strungout" et ses claviers assez originaux), l'excitation n'est pas moindre, et il nous reste huit nouvelles pistes à arpenter.

Qu'en est-il donc ?

C'est le musclé "Living Dead Beat" qui joue les éclaireurs, et celui-ci surprend par sa construction mouvante, scandée de sonorités plus Power et distordues... Children Of Bodom attaque sur un tempo ne donnant pas totalement dans le Speed, et c'est là une première nouveauté.
Mais le morceau titre, second sur la liste des roquettes décochées par les finlandais, s'avère être un monstrueux carton, également squatté de riffs étrillés d'une saturation acide et moderne rarement usitée jusqu'ici par le groupe...
Et puis il y a les morceaux de bravoure frondeurs et fonceurs que sont "Trashed, Lost And Strungout",
la conclusion "We're Not Gonna Fall"
et le pugnace "If You Want Peace... Prepare For War" (avec ses quelques riffs vicieux et gargouillants, dialoguant avec une mélodie typique COB... et quels solos supersoniques !)
Le tempéré "Next In Line" au refrain distinct et au climat évoquant un peu l'album « Follow The Reaper »
Tout comme l'excellente et bien Heavy "Bastards Of Bodom" d'ailleurs (la « Bodom Track » de l'album).
"Punch Me I Bleed", lui, se partage un peu grossièrement entre bagou Power et effluves apaisantes, et ne pointe pas au rang de mes favoris.
A la différence du réussi "In Your Face !", qui domestique à son avantage cette nouvelle coloration guitaristique évoquant PANTERA.

S'il n'opère donc que progressivement, ce cinquième cru des finlandais ne trahira pas la confiance des fans.
Ni ne sonnera le glas de l'un des rares groupes modernes à posséder une arête sonore réellement personnelle, approfondie d'innovations discrètes mais rassurantes quant à la créativité de Laiho. En tout cas, gageons que le groupe saura de nouveau réveiller les fosses. Le groupe optant de nouveau pour la concision (l'album dure à peine plus de trente sept minutes). « Déjà morts », nos finlandais ? Oh que non !
